Overview
micro1 is hiring practicing U.S. attorneys to design legal reasoning tasks that test AI systems. You will turn real-world fact patterns from your practice into challenging problems, complete with model analysis and grading criteria. This is a project-based, remote role open to attorneys with active bar licenses. No AI background is needed; your legal expertise is the core requirement.
What You'll Do5
- Create complex legal reasoning tasks based on scenarios you handle in your practice, including realistic supporting documents.
- Write the correct analysis and explain the step-by-step reasoning that leads to it.
- Set clear standards for what makes an answer correct so that another attorney would agree.
- Evaluate tasks submitted by other attorneys for legal accuracy and sound reasoning.
- Identify and flag tasks that are ambiguous or cannot be graded instead of submitting them.
Requirements8
- J.D. degree and an active U.S. bar license in good standing.
- 3–15 years of practice experience, currently active in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, or compliance.
- English proficiency at C1 level or higher.
- Ability to explain legal reasoning clearly to others.
- Skill in synthesizing evidence and building a case narrative.
- Strong legal research and brief writing skills.
- Good judgment when authorities conflict.
- High attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications5
- Seasoned litigator.
- Judicial clerkship experience.
- Law school teaching or legal instruction experience.
- Law review or journal editorial experience.
- Prior work on legal AI or legal data projects.
Who Should Apply
Attorneys with 3–15 years of active practice in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, or compliance who want to shape how AI handles legal reasoning. Seasoned litigators and those with judicial clerkship or teaching experience are a strong fit. If you can craft difficult, well-reasoned legal problems, this role suits you.
