Mercor is refining the U.S. government's O*NET framework by collecting firsthand insights from seasoned legal professionals. As a participant, you'll complete a brief survey or interview about your daily legal tasks, helping build a more accurate description of the lawyer occupation. This is a one-time, $73/hour research opportunity for active practitioners.
What You'll Do4
- 1Complete a one-time online survey or interview (up to 30 minutes) detailing your day-to-day legal duties, including litigation, document drafting, and client advisement.
- 2Provide concrete examples of your legal research methods, drafting processes for contracts or pleadings, and how you manage casework.
- 3Optionally take part in a follow-up survey, task, or short interview (paid separately) to share additional insights about specialized areas of law.
- 4Help clarify how different legal specialties—such as criminal, corporate, or family law—shape the tasks lawyers perform daily.
Requirements4
- 1At least 4 years of hands-on experience practicing law after licensure.
- 2Currently working as a lawyer, or have held that role within the past 12 months.
- 3Proven expertise with legal research, drafting legal documents, and handling case-related work.
- 4Must be located in the United States and authorized to work remotely.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is for experienced attorneys who want to influence how the U.S. government describes the legal profession. You should be actively engaged in legal practice (or very recently so) and comfortable articulating the real-world tasks that define your daily work. Paralegals, judicial law clerks, and judges are not eligible.
Salary Insight
$73.00 per hour for the initial survey or interview. Any optional follow-up work will be compensated at a separate, agreed-upon rate.
