Industrial Engineering Expert
Listing checked October 5, 2026 · pay as published by AfterQuery
Overview
AfterQuery builds training content for AI models and needs an industrial engineering expert to design and review engineering and operations challenges. You will create case studies that test how well models reason through process optimization, production planning, facility layout, quality control, supply chain design, work measurement, ergonomics and simulation modeling. The contract runs 20 hours per week and stays remote, so it can fit around other work. Your feedback helps the models handle real production, logistics and efficiency problems with technical accuracy.
What You'll Do7
- 1Write industrial engineering questions and case studies that push AI models on process optimization, production planning, facility layout, quality control systems and supply chain design.
- 2Develop scenarios around work measurement, ergonomics and simulation modeling.
- 3Evaluate model responses for technical accuracy and alignment with industrial engineering standards.
- 4Give detailed feedback that points out errors, weak reasoning and missed constraints.
- 5Partner with engineering and technical experts to calibrate question difficulty.
- 6Shape each item so it remains challenging and educational for the models.
- 7Validate that examples reflect constraints found in production, logistics and efficiency challenges.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
- 2Proven practice in industrial engineering, process improvement or operations management.
- 3Strong command of industrial engineering principles and methods.
- 4Analytical skill with clear written and verbal communication.
- 5Keen attention to detail when reviewing technical work.
- 6Several years of industrial engineering experience across manufacturing, logistics or service operations.
- 7Prior work in engineering publications, standards development or engineering technology initiatives.
- 8PE license, Lean Six Sigma certification, MS, PhD or another relevant credential.
- 9Familiarity with AI or technology-driven industrial engineering applications.
Who Should Apply
The candidate who fits best holds a degree in industrial engineering or systems engineering and has spent years solving process, layout or operations problems in real settings. You can defend a technical claim with evidence and write feedback that cites specific industrial engineering standards. People who lack formal engineering training or who know only one narrow manufacturing niche may find the work harder to win. A frequent reason applicants score low is feedback that stays general instead of naming the method or standard at issue. Another is a resume that lists years in operations but shows no depth in supply chain design, simulation modeling or quality control systems.
Salary Insight
The contract pays $75.00 to $115.00 per hour for 20 hours per week. That range matches experienced industrial engineering specialists who can turn domain knowledge into clear training content. A PE license or Lean Six Sigma certification can strengthen a bid for the top of that band. The listing does not mention benefits, so treat the rate as the full compensation picture and confirm payment terms before you start.

Application Tip
Open with a compact case study that names the methods you used, such as work measurement, facility layout or simulation modeling, and states the measurable result. If you hold a PE license or Lean Six Sigma certification, place it near the top so reviewers spot the credential before they reach your work history.

AfterQuery
VerifiedManufacturing Expert
AfterQuery builds training material for AI systems, and this contract puts manufacturing professionals in charge of the questions themselves. You turn plant-floor knowledge into case studies and prompts that test how well a model handles production planning, quality control, lean manufacturing, supply chain problems, equipment maintenance and safety protocols. The role runs remote and asynchronous across a 40 hour week, so you choose when to write and when to review. The company is YC-backed, which means the items you draft feed straight into live model evaluation.

AfterQuery
VerifiedCivil Engineering Expert
AfterQuery seeks a Civil Engineering Expert to craft engineering challenges for AI training modules. You will design problems that test AI models on structural analysis, foundation design, and hydraulics. The role operates remotely with a 20-hour weekly commitment. Your work helps connect civil engineering practice with AI development.

AfterQuery
VerifiedMechanical Engineering Expert
AfterQuery needs a mechanical engineering specialist to build and review technical challenges that train AI models. You will write questions and case studies spanning thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, stress analysis, and related areas, then judge how well a model answers them. The contract runs 15 hours per week, remote and asynchronous, so you can fit the work around another engineering role. Your reviews give the team detailed feedback on technical accuracy and adherence to established mechanical engineering practice. AfterQuery is a YC-backed startup, and this work shapes how AI handles real design and analysis problems.

Handshake AI
VerifiedPlant Performance Engineer
Handshake AI hires energy professionals for project-based contract work that improves how AI models handle industrial operations. You bring your own experience with plant performance, energy asset management, or reliability work and use it to judge AI-generated answers for accuracy and relevance. Your daily tools matter here: AVEVA PI, WinCC, Power BI, and similar platforms give you the context to create expert training data and flag gaps. The schedule stays flexible, with most contributors putting in 5 to 20 hours each week and no minimum hour requirement. You can join active projects when needs match your background.

Handshake AI
VerifiedMechanical Engineering Expert
Handshake AI seeks practicing mechanical engineers to join a part-time, project-based fellowship that improves how AI models handle engineering reasoning.
