FP&A & Treasury Analyst | $80-$120/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor works with a leading AI lab on a project that turns real finance team expertise into structured training data. You'll use your hands-on FP&A and treasury background to design realistic scenarios, then judge how well AI handles those tasks. The ultimate goal is to teach AI to reason about budgeting, forecasts, cash management, and risk the way a seasoned analyst does. This remote contract pays an hourly premium for that niche knowledge.
What You'll Do6
- 1Craft realistic FP&A exercises rooted in your own day-to-day work, such as assembling operating budgets, rolling forecasts, and flux commentary.
- 2Build 13-week cash flow models and daily cash positioning simulations that mirror genuine treasury operations.
- 3Develop formula-driven financial models that test AI's ability to work through debt schedules and covenant compliance.
- 4Review AI-generated planning and treasury outputs, checking for accuracy and sound judgment on assumptions.
- 5Deliver written feedback that pinpoints strengths and gaps in the AI's reasoning so it learns to improve.
- 6Coordinate with the research team asynchronously to refine training materials and address specific gaps.
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent advanced finance training is a plus.
- 2Strong financial-modeling skills with a track record of building and interpreting complex Excel models.
- 3Hands-on experience in corporate treasury, including cash positioning, bank administration, and FX exposure.
- 4Corporate FP&A experience at a mid-size or larger company, covering budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- 5Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) is advantageous if you lean toward the treasury side.
- 6Sharp written communication and a meticulous eye for detail when evaluating analytical outputs.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate brings years of corporate FP&A or treasury work and can translate that expertise into clear, structured lessons for AI. You enjoy breaking down complex financial reasoning and explaining why a forecast assumption is sound or flawed. This role is not for you if you'd rather run the numbers than critique an AI's attempt at them. Candidates often get rejected when their background lacks direct cash management exposure or when their written explanations are too brief to meaningfully improve the model's learning.
Salary Insight
The pay is $80 to $120 per hour, a clear premium over typical FP&A analyst rates. That hourly rate matches the senior judgment and the ability to articulate financial nuance in writing, so it usually appeals to professionals with a decade or more of experience.

Application Tip
Mention specific treasury tasks you've owned, such as daily cash positioning or FX revaluation, and include a short sample of written commentary that shows how you would critique an AI's output. Demonstrating concise, constructive feedback in your application will immediately raise your fit score.
