Financial Analyst for FP&A Modeling and Valuation
Overview
Remote, hourly contractor role as a Financial Analysis SME with SME Careers, focusing on reviewing AI-generated finance analyses and business-finance prompts. You will assess reasoning quality in 3-statement modeling outputs, verify cash-flow calculations, and provide precise written feedback with concrete finance insights. Expect to produce high-quality explanations and model solutions that clearly state assumptions and limitations. This role centers on finance domains like working capital, margin analysis, and unit economics within an AI data-training context.
What You'll Do6
- 1Review AI-generated financial analyses and business-finance responses for accuracy and reasoning quality, outlining actionable improvement ideas.
- 2Create expert finance content by drafting prompts and gold-standard outputs, including models, assumptions tables, narratives, sensitivity analyses, and investment-style summaries.
- 3Evaluate and rank AI responses to enhance numeric correctness, rigor, clarity, and practical usefulness across scenarios.
- 4Test AI outputs for calculation errors, unsafe assumptions, bias, and inconsistency; validate reliability across diverse business cases.
- 5Provide precise written feedback and high-quality explanations that demonstrate correct methods; rate and compare multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality.
- 6Collaborate with data science and AI training teams to align prompts with finance needs and project objectives.
Requirements9
- 1bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, mathematics/statistics, or related field; CFA or MBA strongly preferred
- 25+ years of professional financial analysis experience (FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, equity research, consulting, or similar)
- 3Strong command of core finance concepts: 3-statement logic, cash flow drivers, working capital, margin analysis, capital allocation, and basic corporate accounting linkage
- 4Proven experience building and reviewing financial models (forecasting, scenario/sensitivity analysis, cohort/unit economics, pricing/packaging analyses)
- 5Comfort with valuation reasoning (DCF mechanics, comps, multiple drivers) and clearly stating assumptions and limitations
- 6High quantitative rigor and attention to detail (units, sign conventions, time horizons, error checks)
- 7Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly in writing; minimum C1 English proficiency
- 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in hourly, remote contractor workflows across time zones
- 9Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, finance QA, investment memo review, or analytics editorial work preferred
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates bring at least 5 years of hands-on financial analysis experience and a proven track record building and reviewing financial models. They communicate clearly in writing, delivering executive-ready summaries that highlight key drivers and risks. They are comfortable working asynchronously across time zones and delivering quality work within an hourly contractor framework. Those lacking FP&A or corporate finance experience, or without demonstrable experience in modeling and valuation, are less likely to fit. Candidates who cannot articulate assumptions or demonstrate precision in calculations may score lower on suitability.
