Listing checked September 22, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks a Federal Staff Reporting Analyst to join a project that trains next-generation AI systems. You will use your background in military writing and federal documentation standards to create and evaluate realistic reporting artifacts. The role is fully remote and open to US-based professionals only. No prior AI experience is needed; your domain expertise is what matters.
What You'll Do7
- 1Produce and polish authentic federal reporting documents such as Weekly Action Reports (WARs), Situation Reports (SITREPs), after-action summaries, and executive briefings from provided prompts and source materials.
- 2Write clear, high-quality responses and summaries that mirror the tone and conventions of federal and military reporting.
- 3Assess and score sample submissions using detailed grading rubrics, checking for clarity, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to reporting standards.
- 4Supply input artifacts and golden reference responses for various status, activity, and compliance report types used across federal agencies and military branches.
- 5Help build guidelines, criteria, and evaluative rubrics for training AI models in federal report generation and staff writing.
- 6Advise on task design and requirements, sharing insights from your specialized reporting experience to improve project outputs.
- 7Take part in feedback cycles to keep deliverables aligned with evolving project and client standards.
Requirements7
- 1At least 3 years of experience as a federal professional in the US Department of Defense (or Department of War), focused on federal reporting or staff writing.
- 2Proven ability to produce templated reports such as WARs, MARs, SITREPs, after-action reports, and executive summaries.
- 3Background in one or more branches of the US military; varied branch and position experience is a plus.
- 4Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sharp attention to clarity, tone, and federal style guide compliance.
- 5Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) for creating official reports, memos, and presentations.
- 6Capacity to explain reporting methodology and give feedback for training and assessment purposes.
- 7Must be based in the United States and have a track record of handling confidential reports in a federal or military setting.
Who Should Apply
This role fits a US-based federal reporting or staff writing professional with at least three years in the Department of Defense, who has hands-on experience with WARs, SITREPs, and similar documents. If you have military branch experience and can explain your reporting approach clearly, you are a strong match. The role is less suitable for candidates without federal or military reporting backgrounds, or those who have not produced templated reports. A common reason applicants get rejected is failing to show at least three years of direct federal reporting experience. Another is not demonstrating familiarity with specific report types like WARs or SITREPs in their application.
