Overview

Mercor is partnering with a biotech and pharma research team on expert human-evaluation work for AI systems that assess commercial drugs and development pipelines. We're looking for an epidemiologist to join a paid pilot study, helping build and refine rubrics for patient population sizing. This could turn into a longer-term engagement as the project expands.

What You'll Do4

  • 1Design and assess evaluation frameworks for commercial drugs and drug development programs.
  • 2Estimate patient populations for specific drugs or indications based on prevalence, incidence, and the full funnel from diagnosed to treated to addressable patients.
  • 3Review patient-population estimates for credibility and proper sourcing, highlighting any risks of overcounting or undercounting.
  • 4Apply these methods consistently across the set of drugs and indications included in the pilot.

Requirements4

  • 1Based in the US or with deep familiarity with the US healthcare market.
  • 2Hands-on experience with biotech and pharma development programs.
  • 3Track record of turning real-world data (such as claims, EHR, and registries) into patient funnel estimates.
  • 4At least 5 years of applied epidemiology, supported by a graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health.

Who Should Apply

You're a practiced epidemiologist with a strong background in real-world data, and you care deeply about whether a number is defensible. You enjoy critical evaluation — spotting weak sources and questioning assumptions. You're comfortable working independently on a short, focused project.

Salary Insight

$170–$270 per hour, depending on experience. This is a paid pilot engagement with the potential for recurring work.

Biostatistician

Remote biostatistics work at Mercor splits into two tracks: generating synthetic patient data and scoring AI agents. You will create raw patient-level records, convert them through SDTM and ADaM, and produce TLF outputs where every number reconciles to its source. On the authorship side, you will build prompts, golden outputs, and rubrics that measure an AI agent's ability to run the same end-to-end pipelines. The work draws on pre-market trial experience (Phases 1-3) and asks you to implement an existing SAP, not write one.
