Overview

Turing, a research accelerator for frontier AI labs, seeks U.S. employment and labor law experts to refine large language models such as ChatGPT. You will assess how AI handles hypothetical workplace scenarios involving Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, and NLRA issues. Your legal analysis will directly improve model accuracy and reasoning. The role is fully remote with flexible hours (10–30 per week) for about one month, with possible extension. No prior AI experience is needed.

What You'll Do5

  • Evaluate AI-generated answers to U.S. employment law hypotheticals, covering topics like Title VII discrimination, FLSA wage disputes, FMLA leave, and NLRA union activity.
  • Apply a structured legal rubric to check issue spotting, statutory accuracy, and adherence to EEOC, DOL, and NLRB guidelines.
  • Identify weaknesses in AI reasoning on burden-shifting under McDonnell Douglas, employee classification, non-compete enforceability, and OSHA workplace safety.
  • Write detailed annotations and feedback to help refine AI models.
  • Work with researchers and project managers to maintain consistent evaluation standards and meet project goals.

Requirements6

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active or inactive Bar admission.
  • 3+ years of U.S. legal practice in employment law, labor relations, or workplace compliance.
  • Strong reasoning skills across Title VII, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, ERISA, and NLRA.
  • Excellent written communication and close attention to detail.
  • High ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications1

  • Interest in AI.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with a J.D., bar admission, and at least three years of U.S. employment law practice who enjoy analyzing workplace discrimination, wage and hour, and labor relations issues. The role suits someone with strong statutory reasoning and clear writing who wants to improve AI models without prior AI experience.
