Overview
Mercor is hiring an Electrical Test Automation Engineer for a short-term remote engagement with a major technology organization. In this hands-on role, you will apply real-world experience in electrical testing, instrumentation, and hardware validation to solve complex measurement challenges. The project focuses on designing automated test systems, integrating data acquisition hardware, and developing test scripts across Python, LabVIEW, and C/C++. You will also conduct functional, performance, and regression testing on electrical hardware, including power electronics and embedded systems.
What You'll Do6
- 1Build and deploy automated test systems, including the test procedures and sequences used to validate electrical and electronic hardware.
- 2Connect test instruments, data acquisition modules, and hardware interfaces so measurements and test runs occur automatically.
- 3Write test scripts and reusable automation frameworks, plus data analysis workflows for test results.
- 4Run functional, performance, validation, regression, and HIL tests on applicable hardware.
- 5Inspect test outcomes, debug hardware and bench setups, and trace failures to their root causes.
- 6Check test methods, results, and engineering approaches against project specs.
Requirements10
- 1Hands-on industry experience as an Electrical Test, Test Automation, Electrical, or Hardware Test Engineer.
- 2A degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- 3Prior experience building or running automated electrical test systems and using lab instruments.
- 4Strong coding ability in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C/C++.
- 5Familiarity with test automation and data acquisition, including instrument-control protocols like SCPI, GPIB, USB, Ethernet, CAN, and RS-232/485.
- 6Ability to read electrical schematics, test specs, and technical documentation.
- 7Experience with ATE, automated test benches, custom test fixtures, NI hardware, LabVIEW/TestStand, PXI/PXIe, or DAQ systems (preferred).
- 8Exposure to HIL/SIL, automated regression testing, or Python-based test automation (preferred).
- 9Experience testing power electronics, batteries, EVs, motors, embedded systems, or other complex hardware (preferred).
- 10Experience with high-voltage or safety-critical systems is a plus.
