Corporate/M&A Lawyer (France) | $150-$160/hr Remote
Overview
You will act as an expert reviewer for a legal AI company measuring how well AI systems answer real questions of French law. The work requires feeding identical prompts into two LLM platforms, comparing their responses, and scoring each one against a standardized rubric. The project is remote, pays an hourly rate, and begins with about 10 hours of evaluations. Mercor organizes the engagement for a company that needs experienced corporate/M&A lawyers to judge AI output.
What You'll Do4
- 1Send each prompt in the test set to both AI platforms and collect the answers
- 2Review the two responses next to each other to identify differences in legal reasoning and accuracy
- 3Apply the project rubric to assign a score for every answer
- 4Type up a concise justification for each score, focusing on where the AI model went wrong or right
Requirements4
- 1At least 2 years of corporate/M&A or transactional practice at a law firm (3 or more preferred). In-house lawyers qualify only if they moved in-house within the last 2 years after law-firm experience.
- 2Qualified to practice law in France, with deep knowledge of French corporate and commercial law
- 3Native or fluent French with precise, professional writing skills
- 4Able to evaluate answers independently against a rubric and complete assignments by the deadline
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a French-qualified corporate/M&A lawyer with at least two years of law-firm experience and a habit of catching subtle legal errors. Someone who can work through a batch of prompt comparisons with consistent judgment and write tight feedback will do well. This role is less suitable for in-house counsel who have been outside a law firm for more than two years, or for lawyers whose practice is not transactional. Candidates often miss out when their French legal writing is not precise, when their law-firm tenure is understated, or when they treat the rubric as optional rather than as the governing standard.
Salary Insight
The contract pays $150 to $160 per hour. That rate is strong for freelance legal review work and matches the seniority and niche jurisdiction required. The initial engagement is about 10 hours, but consistent work may follow.

Application Tip
In your application, state your years of law-firm experience in corporate/M&A and name your French qualification. If you have assessed AI legal output or built legal datasets before, include that. The project needs reviewers who can follow a rubric with consistency.
