Corporate/M&A Lawyer (Spain) | $140-$150/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor partners with a legal AI company to test how well LLM platforms handle real questions of Spanish law. An expert reviewer sends identical prompts to two independent AI systems, compares the outputs, and scores each one against a standardized rubric. Each evaluation also needs a short written justification. The contract starts at around 10 hours at $140-$150 per hour, with room to grow, and all work is covered by an NDA.
What You'll Do4
- 1Submit the same set of legal questions to both AI platforms for every evaluation round.
- 2Read the two responses side by side and note where they agree or diverge.
- 3Grade each answer according to the scoring rubric supplied by the client.
- 4Write a brief written explanation for each score, focusing on legal accuracy and reasoning.
Requirements5
- 1At least two years of corporate, M&A, or transactional work at a law firm; three or more years is preferred.
- 2In-house lawyers qualify only if the move in-house happened within the last two years and the prior background was in a firm.
- 3A valid Spanish legal qualification and a strong grasp of Spanish corporate and commercial law.
- 4Native or fluent Spanish writing skills.
- 5Ability to follow a rubric without close supervision and submit evaluations on time.
Who Should Apply
An experienced Spanish transactional lawyer with recent law-firm tenure is the best match for these evaluations. The work suits someone who can make a judgment call, justify it in a few sentences, and move to the next prompt without supervision. In-house counsel who left firm practice more than two years ago will not fit, nor will lawyers who want to argue legal theory rather than grade outputs. The most common reasons for rejection are insufficient years in a firm, lack of Spanish qualification, and written feedback that is too short or unspecific to be useful.
Salary Insight
Pay is $140-$150 per hour for the initial 10-hour block. That rate aligns with the seniority this role demands and is higher than most standard document review or AI labeling work.

Application Tip
Lead your application with the number of years you spent at a law firm in corporate, M&A, or transactional work. Then add a short sample of Spanish legal writing that shows how you assess an argument, because the evaluation depends on clear, concise justifications.
