Corporate/M&A Lawyer (United Kingdom) | $150-$160/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor connects experienced corporate/M&A lawyers with a legal AI company that evaluates how well AI systems handle real questions of UK law. Reviewers run identical prompts through two LLM platforms, compare the responses, and score them against a clear rubric. The work is remote, covered by an NDA, and starts at about 10 hours with room to grow. Your written feedback shapes how legal AI products are benchmarked.
What You'll Do4
- 1Execute the same question sets across two different AI platforms.
- 2Review answer pairs from both systems side by side.
- 3Assess every response using the scoring rubric Mercor provides.
- 4Write short, precise feedback for each evaluation.
Requirements4
- 1Minimum 2 years (3+ preferred) at a law firm doing corporate, M&A, or transactional work. In-house lawyers can apply if they moved in-house within the last 2 years and their prior experience was at a firm.
- 2Must be UK-qualified and comfortable with UK corporate and commercial law.
- 3English at native or fluent level, with clear and exact writing.
- 4Works well alone, follows a rubric, and meets deadlines.
Who Should Apply
The ideal reviewer has 2-3+ years in corporate or M&A practice at a law firm and can judge AI answers with the same care they bring to legal drafting. This role suits a UK-qualified lawyer who wants a short, well-paid project that uses their subject-matter expertise without client-facing pressure. The role fits poorly for lawyers who have spent most of their career in-house or lack recent transactional experience. Candidates often score low because their background is non-transactional or because their feedback lacks the precision the rubric requires.
Salary Insight
Pay is $150-$160 per hour, billed hourly. The rate reflects the specialized UK legal knowledge required and the project's short-term, contract nature.

Application Tip
State your years of transactional law-firm experience and include a short sample of how you would evaluate an AI legal answer against a rubric. That sample shows the precise writing this role needs.
