Corporate Designer — Project Style | $65-$100/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor's Project Style contract brings in corporate designers to evaluate and rework AI-generated knowledge work such as decks, documents, spreadsheets, and PDFs. Designers score alternative versions of the same deliverable on layout and spacing, typography, color, domain realism, and finish, then rebuild the strongest version to a client-ready standard. The role is remote, takes about 15 hours per week, and pays an hourly rate. A calibration assessment tests whether your layout ratings match a reference key.
What You'll Do5
- 1Compare multiple AI-generated versions of a business deliverable and rate them on layout, spacing, typography, color, domain realism, and final polish.
- 2Choose the strongest version and rework it until it reaches the quality of a polished corporate reference.
- 3Document each rating decision with specific layout evidence, including alignment gaps, uneven card heights, margin issues, and density problems.
- 4Apply your design sensibility to real corporate materials, such as pitch decks, reports, and financial documents.
- 5Bring the selected deliverable to a standard where a consulting partner or lead designer would approve it without revision.
Requirements6
- 1Corporate design, agency design, marketing communications, management consulting, or investment banking background.
- 2Ability to identify subtle layout issues such as alignment gaps, unequal card heights, dead space, and margin drift.
- 3Writing skill that turns visual observations into concrete, evidence-based justifications.
- 4Experience reviewing or producing business deliverables that meet client standards.
- 5Comfort evaluating AI-generated materials and choosing the best candidate to improve.
- 6Capacity to work about 15 hours per week on a remote hourly contract.
Who Should Apply
Candidates who bring a designer's eye and a consultant's standard for polished deliverables will fit this role well. The strongest applicants come from in-house design teams, agencies, or knowledge-work roles such as consulting and investment banking. The work is less suitable for someone who only cares about content and does not want to debate visual details. The most common rejection reasons are scores that miss the calibration key on layout and spacing and justifications that describe feelings rather than specific visual evidence.
Salary Insight
The contract pays an hourly rate of $80, within the advertised $65 to $100 range. That rate aligns with a senior corporate designer who can score deliverables against a benchmark and defend those scores in writing.

Application Tip
Practice scoring sample decks against the layout and spacing rubric before the calibration assessment, and write justifications that cite specific visual evidence such as misaligned elements or inconsistent margins.
