Overview

Turing seeks experienced Clinical & Health Subject Matter Experts to craft and evaluate realistic clinical scenarios, long-chart cases, and assessment rubrics. This role spans multiple disciplines, from emergency medicine and psychiatry to rehabilitation, pharmacy, and revenue cycle. You will either join as an Expert Contributor or a Senior Specialist/Functional Lead, based on your clinical depth and review experience. The work requires at least 4 hours daily with 4 hours of PST overlap, for a 12-week contractor engagement.

What You'll Do10

  • Design high-difficulty clinical tasks, longitudinal chart scenarios, and gold-standard answers for your assigned discipline.
  • Analyze fragmented medical records to spot contradictions, missing actions, and clinically significant trends.
  • Judge whether model outputs are clinically sound, safe, evidence-based, and suitable for the care setting.
  • Apply evaluation rubrics to score clinical reasoning, terminology, documentation, and payer accuracy.
  • Review specialty tasks such as discharge planning, swallow recommendations, prior authorization, or medication safety.
  • For the senior track: calibrate peers' work, resolve edge-case ambiguities, and uphold pod quality standards.
  • Assess cross-functional tasks that involve coordination among physicians, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, and coders.
  • Revise deliverables through multiple critique cycles to meet project standards.
  • For the senior track: escalate genuine clinical or regulatory ambiguities to the Functional SME Lead.
  • Participate in discipline-specific review or calibration exercises as part of the evaluation process.

Requirements8

  • 3 to 15+ years of professional experience in one or more clinical or health disciplines.
  • Current or recent practice within the last three years in a relevant setting (clinical, hospital, payer, lab, behavioral health, revenue cycle, or quality).
  • Active professional licensure, board certification, or recognized credential for your discipline.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, chart-review, documentation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret fragmented records, reconcile conflicts, and reach clinically defensible conclusions.
  • Keen attention to patient safety, clinical terminology, medical necessity, coding accuracy, and regulatory standards.
  • Comfort working within structured review cycles and standardized rubrics.
  • Bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree in a healthcare field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications6

  • Familiarity with US clinical guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare workflows.
  • Experience in clinical practice, healthcare operations, medical review, AI evaluation, data annotation, or quality assurance.
  • Prior experience reviewing expert work, creating clinical education content, or developing assessment materials.
  • Participation in quality-improvement programs.
  • Board certification or specialist credentials such as BCPS, BCCCP, CIC, CPHQ, CPPS, CCS, CPC, CDIP, CCDS, CDCES, ABEM, ABPN, or ABPM.
  • Experience with acute-care rehabilitation, utilization management, prior authorization, medical coding, CDI, infection prevention, or EMS medical direction.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with active clinical licensure and 3–15+ years of hands-on experience, who thrive on detailed chart review and clinical reasoning, will fit well. The role suits specialists in emergency medicine, psychiatry, rehabilitation, pharmacy, coding, or quality who can work within structured rubrics and a 4-hour PST overlap.
