Civil Engineer for AI Content Evaluation Remote Contract
Overview
Remote contract opportunity for a seasoned civil engineer focused on evaluating AI-generated civil content in infrastructure domains. Operate on real-world scenarios spanning structural analysis, drainage design, and pavement design to test model accuracy and reasoning. Provide concrete, actionable feedback that helps models explain assumptions, calculations, and safety considerations. This role partners with SME Careers to shape how AI systems understand civil engineering topics while working from home.
What You'll Do7
- 1Evaluate AI-generated civil content for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to code-informed reasoning in topics like structural loads, soil behavior, and hydraulics.
- 2Create and present realistic civil engineering problems to challenge models, including calculations and design questions for structural analysis and geotechnical engineering.
- 3Review and refine prompts, responses, explanations, and step-by-step solutions produced by AI.
- 4Deliver structured feedback that flags factual errors, missing constraints, unsafe recommendations, or gaps in reasoning.
- 5Assess model performance on topics such as load calculations, slope stability, drainage design, pavement design, reinforced concrete, and steel design.
- 6Help establish standards for technical communication from AI, including how assumptions, limitations, calculations, and professional judgment are explained.
- 7Ensure AI-generated content reflects sound engineering principles and safety considerations.
Requirements4
- 14+ years of professional civil engineering experience across infrastructure design, structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources, environmental engineering, construction management, or related specialty.
- 2Deep knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, including statics, mechanics of materials, soil mechanics, hydraulics, materials behavior, load paths, construction methods, and infrastructure systems.
- 3Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; master’s degree, PE licensure, or other advanced credentials strongly preferred.
- 4Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates bring more than four years of hands-on civil engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure design and practical problem-solving. They should be comfortable working remotely and contributing to AI data evaluation teams. This role is less suitable for those who lack a solid grounding in civil engineering fundamentals or who have little exposure to AI-driven content assessment. Candidates who rely on generic templates rather than precise calculations and code-based reasoning may struggle to meet the role’s standards.
