Cad Data Generation and Validation Specialist FreeCAD
Overview
A remote contractor role focused on creating and validating parametric CAD data in FreeCAD for an AI model training project. You’ll build a library of mechanical parts and assemblies, ensure geometric accuracy, and apply GD&T to reflect real-world standards. The work includes QA reviews, documentation, and adapting deliverables as project needs evolve. Proficiency with FreeCAD and a solid background in mechanical design are essential, with optional Python scripting to boost automation and dataset richness.
What You'll Do6
- 1Produce precise FreeCAD parametric models and verify geometric accuracy using engineering best practices.
- 2Create a diverse set of mechanical parts, assemblies, and features to support AI training data needs.
- 3Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to ensure models align with real-world manufacturing standards.
- 4Perform CAD data quality checks, resolve discrepancies, and maintain thorough engineering documentation.
- 5Incorporate feedback to refine deliverables as requirements evolve, and document modeling workflows for reproducibility.
- 6Optionally write Python scripts to automate modeling tasks or enhance parametrization for richer datasets.
Requirements6
- 12+ years in mechanical design, CAD modeling, manufacturing, or industrial engineering with hands-on FreeCAD or comparable parametric CAD experience.
- 2Strong background in parametric modeling and mechanical design best practices.
- 3Experience validating CAD data and applying GD&T in practical manufacturing scenarios.
- 4Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts and common manufacturing processes.
- 5Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to precise, high-quality outputs.
- 6Ability to prepare clear engineering documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate has solid FreeCAD experience, a track record in parametric modeling, and hands-on CAD validation skills. This role may not be suitable for those without FreeCAD proficiency or with limited exposure to GD&T in real-world manufacturing. Common fit concerns include insufficient experience with parametric CAD workflows or gaps in engineering documentation. Expect a higher assess on detail orientation and ability to incorporate iterative feedback.
