Overview
AfterQuery builds expert-level evaluation and training data for frontier AI labs, and this contract role puts your medical device background directly into that loop. You will judge how well model output holds up against real design controls, biomechanics, biomaterials, imaging methods and regulatory submissions. Most of the work comes from your own practice: writing walkthroughs of verification and validation that show a model what correct engineering reasoning looks like. The engagement runs fully remote and async, so you set your own hours and decide how much you take on.
What You'll Do7
- Score AI-written device design and biomedical analysis for technical accuracy, flagging errors a practicing engineer would catch
- Write expert demonstrations of design control, verification and validation workflows drawn from your own projects
- Rank competing model responses against established biomedical engineering standards and explain the reasoning behind each ranking
- Review generated content on regulatory submissions and call out gaps in the technical argument
- Build reference answers in your specialty area, whether that is biomechanics, biomaterials, imaging or instrumentation
- Label model output for correctness and completeness so training pipelines can separate strong answers from weak ones
- Document the assumptions and constraints behind each judgment so other reviewers can follow your logic
Requirements5
- Degree in biomedical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- At least 2 years of professional work in biomedical engineering or on medical devices
- Strong written communication, since every judgment and demonstration ships as written text
- Working command of design controls and the verification and validation cycle
- Ability to spot technical errors in AI-generated engineering content and explain what went wrong
