Overview
A remote contractor role for an Aerodynamics Expert working with micro1 on a client project that advances AI in aerospace engineering. You’ll apply your domain knowledge to help train next generation AI systems, shaping how models learn and reason about aerodynamic challenges. The work covers external aerodynamics, CFD, wind tunnel testing, propulsion, and vehicle aero, with emphasis on precise technical input and clear written and verbal communication. Prior AI experience isn’t required; your engineering expertise is what matters. In this role you’ll contribute to real-world problems and collaborate with a distributed team of experts to improve AI reasoning in aerodynamics, documentation, and feedback.
What You'll Do7
- 1Tackle advanced aerodynamic design and analysis tasks across external aero, CFD, wind tunnel data, propulsion, and vehicle aerodynamics.
- 2Review AI generated technical outputs for accuracy and quality, providing concrete feedback.
- 3Apply practical engineering judgment to solve real world aerodynamic problems and interpret theoretical questions.
- 4Diagnose aerodynamic issues using boundary-layer theory, potential flow, compressible flow relations, and data from CFD or wind tunnels.
- 5Contribute domain knowledge to guide model improvements and refine AI reasoning in aerodynamics.
- 6Document insights and explanations clearly to support AI learning and performance.
- 7Collaborate with a remote, distributed team of experts and project participants.
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a thermofluids/aero focus; or a related BS with 3+ years of hands-on experience.
- 2At least 3 years of direct work in aerodynamic design or analysis (external aero, CFD, wind tunnel, propulsion, or vehicle aero).
- 3Strong grasp of compressible and incompressible flow, boundary layers, turbulence modeling, and propulsion integration aerodynamics.
- 4Proven ability to analyze performance using CFD tools, wind tunnel data reduction, or analytical methods.
- 5Familiarity with standards and practices such as AIAA guidelines, wind tunnel protocols, and CFD verification/validation.

Salary Insight
