Advisory & Transaction Services Expert (M&A / Valuation) | $80-$120/hr Remote
Overview
You will translate your hands-on transaction advisory or valuation background into structured examples that teach AI to reason like a seasoned deal professional. Your scenarios will mirror real engagements: quality-of-earnings analyses, working capital and net-debt adjustments, due diligence findings, and models built on DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction approaches. You will also evaluate AI-generated advisory outputs and provide written feedback that sharpens its accuracy and judgment. This is a remote, hourly contract role with asynchronous collaboration through Mercor for a leading AI research lab.
What You'll Do4
- 1Design detailed practice scenarios based on actual engagements: quality-of-earnings analyses, working capital and net-debt adjustments, due diligence observations, valuation work using DCF and comparable company multiples, purchase price allocation under ASC 805, and LBO modeling.
- 2Assess AI responses to these scenarios, checking for sound method, defensible assumptions, and professional judgment.
- 3Write concise feedback that guides the AI toward stronger transaction and valuation reasoning.
- 4Work asynchronously with the research team through a shared platform, making progress on your own schedule.
Requirements5
- 1Proven experience in transaction advisory from a Big 4 transactions group or a boutique firm, or equivalent roles in corporate development, investment banking, or valuation.
- 2Certifications like CPA, ASA, ABV, or CFA are a plus, particularly for candidates with a strong valuation focus.
- 3Hands-on ownership of quality-of-earnings analyses, valuation models, or deal execution from start to finish.
- 4Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5Exceptional written communication and a rigorous eye for detail when reviewing financial work.
Who Should Apply
This role suits a senior advisor or analyst who has spent years building quality-of-earnings reports, valuation models, and deal documents, and who takes genuine pleasure in explaining the reasoning behind every assumption. If you would rather execute transactions than teach an AI to replicate your craft, this is probably not the right fit. The most common rejection reasons are a background that lacks direct QoE or valuation ownership, or feedback that is too high-level and does not demonstrate the systematic, numbers-driven judgment expected of a deal professional.
Salary Insight
$80.00 - $120.00 per hour, paid on a contract basis. This rate typically corresponds to an experienced transaction advisory professional with several years of Big 4 or investment banking deal work, and reflects the specialized nature of training AI in this domain.

Application Tip
Since the role hinges on your ability to explain your process, prepare a concise, step-by-step walkthrough of one of your past QoE or valuation models. Use that example to demonstrate how you structure assumptions and communicate findings in writing, which is exactly what the hiring team assesses.
