Overview

micro1 is building a team of Adolescent Suicide & Self-Harm Specialists to support a customer project that improves how adolescent suicide and self-harm risk is assessed and managed. You will apply your clinical expertise to train next-generation AI systems, helping models learn to reason through complex adolescent presentations. Your work includes reviewing case materials, producing structured risk assessments, and documenting risk formulations that guide practical responses. The goal is to help tools reliably tell the difference between ideation, intent, and acute risk so non-specialist users can act in real-world situations. No AI background is needed. Your domain knowledge is what matters.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Examine adolescent case materials and produce structured written risk assessments for suicide and self-harm presentations.
  • 2Use validated instruments such as C-SSRS and expert risk formulation to shape clear, actionable guidance.
  • 3Tell apart self-harm, suicidal ideation, and intent, and describe acuity levels with precision.
  • 4Suggest response protocols, including escalation pathways, Stanley-Brown safety planning, and means-restriction strategies.
  • 5Spot comorbidities, safeguarding concerns, and contextual factors that affect risk, and weave them into assessments.
  • 6Write guidance in clear, research-grade English so non-specialists can carry out recommended actions with confidence.
  • 7Compare and cross-check risk judgments against established guidelines and peer assessments to keep decisions consistent.

Requirements7

  • 13–5+ years of post-qualification experience with direct adolescent clinical contact focused on suicide or self-harm risk.
  • 2Specialist credentials in child/adolescent psychiatry or psychology, with proven expertise in suicide and self-harm interventions.
  • 3An active clinical license or registration in good standing, plus an active adolescent caseload within the past two years.
  • 4Advanced skill with suicide and self-harm risk assessment tools, such as C-SSRS and safety planning protocols.
  • 5Familiarity with evidence-based adolescent interventions, including DBT-A and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • 6Exceptional written English: native, or IELTS 7.5+ with writing 7.0+, TOEFL 100+, Cambridge C1–C2, or equivalent.
  • 7Desirable: DBT-A or CBT training, crisis or inpatient experience, or contributions to suicidology research or clinical guidelines.

Who Should Apply

This role fits a licensed child/adolescent psychiatrist or psychologist who has spent at least three to five years working directly with adolescents on suicide and self-harm risk, and who still carries an active adolescent caseload. You should be comfortable using tools like C-SSRS and Stanley-Brown safety planning, and able to write clear, research-grade English that non-specialists can follow. The role is less suitable for clinicians without recent adolescent contact, or for those whose experience is mainly with adults. Candidates often get rejected when their license or registration is not in good standing, or when their writing sample does not show the precision and clarity this project demands. If you have not used validated risk tools in practice, your fit score will likely be low.
