Overview

A remote contractor role focused on adolescent substance use. You’ll review case material, document risk and severity, and recommend levels of care using established frameworks. Your clinical guidance will shape how AI models learn and respond to real-world adolescent SUD scenarios. No AI background required beyond your domain expertise, with emphasis on safety, assessment, and clear, non-specialist guidance. DSM-5 SUD, ASAM criteria, and MOUD familiarity anchor the work.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Review clinical case materials describing adolescent substance use and document thorough risk and severity assessments along with urgency of intervention
  • 2Apply DSM-5 SUD and ASAM frameworks to stage severity and propose an appropriate level of care
  • 3Assess safety and clinical suitability of proposed and alternative interventions, including relevant pharmacological options
  • 4Differentiate normal adolescent experimentation from clinically significant substance use patterns in youth
  • 5Identify withdrawal, overdose, and safeguarding risks that require escalation or immediate action
  • 6Produce actionable guidance for non-specialists with clear rationale and reference to standards and guidelines
  • 7Benchmark assessments against peer input and published best practices to maintain consistency and rigor

Requirements6

  • 13–5+ years of direct experience with adolescents affected by substance use
  • 2Clinical specialty in addiction medicine or child/adolescent psychiatry/psychology focused on SUD
  • 3Active, in-good-standing clinical license with recent (<2 years) adolescent caseload
  • 4Proficiency with screening and severity staging tools for adolescents (e.g., CRAFFT, S2BI, DSM-5, ASAM)
  • 5Familiarity with MOUD/MAT and withdrawal protocols for under-18s
  • 6Strong written English suitable for research-standard documentation

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years working directly with adolescents dealing with substance use and holds an active clinical license. They bring expertise in addiction medicine or child/adolescent psychiatry/psychology with hands-on experience using adolescent SUD tools like CRAFFT or ASAM criteria. The role may be less suitable for those without recent adolescent caseloads or without MOUD/MAT familiarity. Common fit concerns include limited experience with adolescent withdrawal protocols or difficulty translating complex guidelines into non-specialist guidance.

Salary Insight

Pay ranges from 45 to 95 per hour; compensation details are provided upfront and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
