Overview
Handshake AI is building an AI research project around 3D content, and the team needs artists who can show where today's models fall short. You will construct tasks pulled from real production work: Blender modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing and shading, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, and asset export. From there you review what the models produce and write the feedback that moves them toward better output. The role runs as an ongoing fellowship, part-time and remote, so it fits beside a studio job or a freelance schedule. No set hours, no minimum weekly commitment.
What You'll Do6
- Build benchmark tasks from your own production workflows, spanning modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, shading, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, and asset export.
- Write problem sets hard enough that leading AI models fail them, keeping each one anchored to a genuine studio process.
- Score AI responses against the task brief and point out where geometry, materials, or topology break down.
- Explain your reasoning in structured written feedback that model trainers can act on.
- Deliver work on a remote, asynchronous schedule with self-set hours and no minimum weekly commitment.
- Hold quality steady across batches as the project continues.
Requirements6
- Completed Bachelor's degree or higher.
- At least two years of hands-on Blender experience.
- US work authorization.
- Clear written English and the ability to break down complex 3D concepts for a reader who is not an artist.
- Comfort working alone on an asynchronous remote schedule.
- Close attention to detail when reviewing renders, topology, and textures.
Who Should Apply
3D artists with two or more years in Blender who want to test what AI still cannot do in modeling and look development. A background at a game, animation, VFX, or visualization studio helps, and so does range across ZBrush, Substance Painter, or Unreal Engine. US work authorization is required.
Salary Insight
Pay is listed at $125 per hour, a rate that matches specialist 3D judgment work rather than general freelance modeling. Hours are self-set and project-based, so total earnings depend on how many task batches you take on.
