Overview
<strong>Blender</strong> specialist needed for a remote, hourly contract with SME Careers to shape AI training data through production-level 3D work. You design tasks in <strong>Blender</strong> from low-poly props to a full <strong>retopology</strong> pass and <strong>UV</strong> mapping, plus <strong>shader</strong> and lighting setups to support model evaluation. You will record end-to-end demonstrations using our provided <strong>recording tools</strong>, creating a complete trace of actions, interface states, and resulting files. Clear verification criteria ensure the finished scene, mesh, or render can be objectively measured and reproduced by others.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design production-grade <strong>Blender</strong> tasks such as a low-poly prop, a <strong>retopology</strong> and <strong>UV</strong> pass, a <strong>shader</strong> and lighting setup, and a camera-framed scene to meet objective specs.
- 2Record expert demonstrations in your environment using the supplied <strong>recording tools</strong>, producing a full trace of actions, interface state, and file changes.
- 3Document the workflow steps in clear English so another expert can reproduce the process.
- 4Define <strong>verification criteria</strong> and milestones that specify the final render or mesh requirements and acceptable intermediate results.
- 5Develop tasks ranging from single-tool operations to cross-application workflows.
- 6Review submitted traces for realism, completeness, and alignment with the stated success criteria as a <strong>QA</strong> activity.
- 7Adhere to project quality standards, keep recordings free of personal data, use only approved apps, and avoid closed-source AI assistants.
Requirements8
- 12–5 years of professional <strong>Blender</strong>-focused <strong>3D</strong> artist experience in contract, studio, or freelance settings.
- 2Proficiency in production Blender tasks: <strong>modeling</strong> with clean topology, <strong>modifiers</strong>, <strong>UV</strong> unwrapping, <strong>materials</strong> and shading, <strong>lighting</strong>, and <strong>rendering</strong> in <strong>Cycles</strong> and/or <strong>EEVEE</strong>.
- 3Strong troubleshooting ability to identify bad topology, shading and normals issues, scale inconsistencies, and non-manifold geometry.
- 4A computer capable of running Blender and recording tools on Windows 11, Ubuntu (X11), or macOS.
- 5English proficiency at least B2 with clear written workflow documentation.
