Overview

Mercor needs 3D artists and video editors to support a research project with a leading AI lab. You will run real production work on your own Mac, from modeling and texturing to editing and color grading, and the output becomes training data that helps benchmark and improve advanced AI models. The tools stay familiar: Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro. Expect roughly 10 to 20 hours a week with structured tasks and no consulting-style crunch. An immediate start is preferred.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Complete genuine 3D and video production tasks on your own Mac, covering modeling, texturing, animation, editing, color grading, or motion graphics
  • 2Narrate your process as you work, explaining the creative and technical decisions behind each step
  • 3Turn finished tasks into clear, well-labeled training data for AI model benchmarking
  • 4Walk through your reasoning out loud so reviewers understand why you chose a given approach
  • 5Deliver work that holds up to quality review against the project's production standards
  • 6Track your hours and keep a steady 10 to 20 hour weekly schedule
  • 7Respond to feedback on submitted tasks and adjust your approach on later assignments
  • 8Discuss your portfolio and prior projects during the screening process

Requirements8

  • 1You must own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher. Applicants without a Mac cannot be considered
  • 2Hands-on skill with at least one core tool such as Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or After Effects
  • 3Practical background in modeling, texturing, animation, editing, color grading, or motion graphics
  • 42 to 3 years of professional or freelance experience, or current enrollment in a postgrad program in film, animation, or digital media
  • 5A Bachelors degree from a prestigious institution for candidates applying on experience
  • 6A reel or portfolio that shows finished work is a plus
  • 7Ability to explain your creative choices in plain language while you work
  • 8Strong written and verbal communication

Who Should Apply

3D artists and video editors with 2 to 3 years of freelance or studio work, plus postgrad students in film, animation, or digital media, who own a Mac and can explain their process clearly. A reel helps. If you work in Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D, Resolve, or After Effects and want steady part-time project work, this fits.

Salary Insight

The rate runs $50 to $60 per hour, paid hourly for roughly 10 to 20 hours a week. That sits at the higher end for part-time 3D and video contract work, and it lines up with the 2 to 3 years of production experience the team expects.

Application Tip

Lead with your Mac spec in the first line of your resume, since the Apple silicon or Intel requirement plus macOS 15 filters out applicants early. Then link a short reel that shows one modeling or editing piece end to end, and note the tools used, such as Blender or DaVinci Resolve, so your fit score reflects the exact software.
