Overview
micro1 seeks experienced SolidWorks specialists for an AI training project. You will complete real mechanical design tasks in parametric CAD and narrate each step of your workflow. The role is fully remote and contractor-based. Your CAD work and explanations will help train AI models on mechanical design reasoning.
What You'll Do8
- Build and revise 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Work with sketches, constraints, and feature trees to keep models parametric and editable.
- Develop or adjust mechanical designs to meet stated technical requirements.
- Check CAD models for correct dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing accuracy.
- Tackle advanced CAD tasks while explaining your workflow step by step.
- Write clear instructions and detailed prompts for mechanical design tasks.
- Record your screen as you complete tasks so your process is captured.
- Apply GD&T and design-for-manufacturing principles when reviewing models.
Requirements6
- Strong professional experience using SolidWorks.
- Hands-on work with 3D parametric CAD modeling and assemblies.
- Solid grasp of mechanical design, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
- Access to SolidWorks and the ability to record your screen while working.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- Ability to explain technical workflows in clear terms.
Preferred Qualifications4
- Experience with FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or Autodesk Inventor.
- A master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Previous human data experience, such as data annotation, RLHF, or AI model evaluation.
- Experience with CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, or reverse engineering.
Who Should Apply
This role suits a mechanical designer who knows SolidWorks inside and out and can walk through a feature tree out loud. You should have a working SolidWorks license, a screen recorder, and enough English to explain design decisions to a non-engineer.
