Overview

AfterQuery brings in health physics specialists to sharpen how AI models handle questions about radioactive materials. Your work centers on evaluation prompts: writing ones that sit near the safe and unsafe boundary, then judging the ones other experts submit. Every call needs your written reasoning, covering what makes a request acceptable and where it crosses a line. Radiation safety rules, radiochemistry fundamentals and health physics practice all feed that analysis. Reviewers return structured feedback, and you rework each task until the judgment holds up.

What You'll Do5

  • Draft prompts and scenarios that probe the thin edge between legitimate and dangerous requests in radioactive materials work.
  • Read submissions from other domain experts and classify each one as safe or unsafe.
  • Write the technical analysis behind every label, naming the physics and the handling rules that justify the call.
  • Rework tasks after reviewer feedback arrives, tightening the reasoning until the judgment stands.
  • Keep your labels consistent across a full batch so the boundary the model learns stays stable.

Requirements4

  • Citizen of a Five Eyes country: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
  • Physically located in one of those five countries for the whole engagement.
  • Master's degree or higher in health physics, radiochemistry, nuclear engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability to lay out the technical basis of a safety judgment in clear, precise prose.

Preferred Qualifications3

  • Prior work in AI evaluation, red teaming or data annotation.
  • Practice as a radiation safety officer, health physicist or radiochemist.
  • Background in radioactive source or waste management.

Who Should Apply

Health physicists, radiochemists and nuclear engineers with a graduate degree and citizenship in a Five Eyes country. The role rewards people who can defend a safety call in writing and who want task-based work they fit around current practice.

Salary Insight

The listing quotes a $150/hr equivalent, paid at $85 for each approved task. Because compensation follows approved output rather than hours logged, your effective rate depends on how fast you turn around accurate, well-argued judgments.
