Overview
AfterQuery needs nuclear specialists to build evaluation tasks that test whether an AI model can separate a safe request from an unsafe one. You will write prompts and scenarios drawn from nuclear engineering, reactor safety and safeguards, then put in writing where a request stays acceptable and where it crosses a line. Reviewers score each judgment and you rework your submissions from that feedback. Assignments run task by task, so you set your own hours, and each approved task pays $85, a $150/hr equivalent.
What You'll Do5
- Author prompts and scenarios that press on the boundary between what a model should answer and what it should refuse in nuclear science and engineering.
- Read prompts submitted by other domain experts and label each one safe or unsafe.
- Write the analysis behind every label: what keeps a request within bounds, or which technical detail pushes it past the line.
- Rework prompts and written judgments after structured reviewer feedback.
- Apply nuclear-specific reasoning, such as reactor behavior, radiation protection or safeguards obligations, when you justify a call.
Requirements4
- Master's degree or above in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Citizenship in a Five Eyes country: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
- Physical presence in one of those five countries for the duration of the work.
- Ability to spell out the technical reasoning behind a safety judgment in precise, unambiguous language.
Preferred Qualifications3
- PhD in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a related field.
- Professional experience in reactor operations, nuclear safety, safeguards or national laboratory research.
- Background in AI evaluation, red teaming or data annotation.
