Protein Biochemist | $40-$60/hr Remote
Overview
We're looking for a protein biochemist to apply your deep knowledge of molecular biology to improve how AI systems understand and reason about biological processes. Your expertise in protein structure, function, and interactions will directly shape the training data that teaches AI to think more like a scientist. No AI background needed—your domain knowledge is the star here.
What You'll Do7
- 1Carry out detailed research on protein folding, enzyme mechanisms, signaling cascades, and post-translational changes.
- 2Examine protein structures, their functions, and how they interact with one another to boost scientific insights and feed AI training efforts.
- 3Explore how proteins influence core biological functions like metabolism, cell growth, and intercellular communication.
- 4Assess how drugs and small molecules affect protein stability and overall function.
- 5Clearly document and explain complex experimental findings to both technical colleagues and non-specialist stakeholders.
- 6Work closely with cross-functional teams to convert biochemical discoveries into usable datasets and protocols for AI model training.
- 7Keep thorough records of experimental procedures, raw data, and results to ensure studies are reproducible and trustworthy.
Requirements7
- 1A bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field.
- 2Solid hands‑on experience in protein science—especially analyzing structure‑function relationships and developing biochemical assays.
- 3Strong knowledge of both biology and chemistry, with a good grasp of how biomolecules interact.
- 4Ability to run independent research projects and interpret complex biochemical data.
- 5Excellent written and verbal communication skills to share ideas clearly and concisely.
- 6Proficiency in recording research methods and outcomes for varied audiences.
- 7Experience working remotely or as part of a distributed scientific team is a plus.
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for a biochemist or molecular biologist who is curious about how AI works and wants to see their expertise used in a new way. You’re comfortable digging into the details of protein behavior, but you also enjoy collaborating with engineers and data scientists to build something bigger. You’re disciplined in your documentation and can explain your science to people who don’t share your background.
Salary Insight
$40–$60 per hour, contract basis.
