Overview

This role is for a chemical biologist who wants to apply their domain expertise in a completely new way — training the next generation of AI models. You'll design experiments, analyze biological data, and help create high-quality datasets that teach AI systems how to reason about chemical and biological concepts. No prior AI experience is needed; your deep knowledge of synthetic compounds and biological systems is the core requirement. It's a fully remote contract position with a competitive hourly rate.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Design and synthesize small molecules, chemical probes, and compounds to study and manipulate key biological pathways.
  • 2Use advanced chemical techniques to selectively label and modify proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules inside living cells.
  • 3Develop and test new methods for investigating post-translational modifications and chemical changes in biological pathways, specifically for AI bioscience datasets.
  • 4Work with teammates to create and refine rubrics that guide data generation, annotation, and evaluation — ensuring high-quality training data for AI models.
  • 5Analyze experimental results, interpret data, and present findings in clear written reports and verbal updates to cross-functional teams.
  • 6Propose and implement creative strategies for integrating chemical biology insights into AI-driven research projects.
  • 7Lend your domain expertise to continuously improve how AI training data is curated and used.

Requirements6

  • 1Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field.
  • 2Proven ability to design and synthesize natural and synthetic compounds for biological investigations.
  • 3Hands-on experience with chemical and biochemical methods for studying proteins, nucleic acids, and cellular processes.
  • 4A solid grasp of biological systems and molecular interactions, especially in therapeutic or biomedical research contexts.
  • 5Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of documenting experiments and results clearly.
  • 6Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate scientific findings into actionable insights that improve AI training.

Who Should Apply

This role is perfect for a chemical biologist who is curious about AI and excited to apply their lab skills in a non-traditional way. You enjoy designing experiments and analyzing data, and you're comfortable working independently in a remote environment. You don't need to know machine learning — just a desire to help AI models become smarter about biology and chemistry.
