Overview

SME Careers seeks a qualified physicist to join a remote, contract AI training initiative. You will review AI training responses and assess the quality of their reasoning, then craft clear physics explanations that illustrate correct methods. You will perform fact-checking across physics topics against public sources and provide targeted feedback to improve model outputs. There is no active project yet, but top experts will be contacted first when relevant opportunities arise for remote contract work.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Review AI-generated physics responses for accuracy and coherence, scoring reasoning across steps.
  • 2Assess the quality of step-by-step problem solving and identify conceptual gaps.
  • 3Provide expert feedback to guide the creation of training prompts and exemplar model solutions.
  • 4Fact-check physics content against public sources across multiple domains.
  • 5Draft high-quality physics explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct methods.
  • 6Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on physics correctness and logical reasoning.
  • 7Contribute to building AI training content by crafting prompts and example answers covering core physics topics.
  • 8Collaborate with the expert network to align outputs with peer-reviewed standards.

Requirements9

  • 1MS or PhD in physics from a top 100 university.
  • 2Strong physical reasoning, and expertise in mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, and thermodynamics or statistical mechanics with solid systems thinking.
  • 3Developed or critically reviewed complex physics content such as problem banks, proofs, textbook sections, or research notes.
  • 4Expert in fact-checking across physics topics using public sources across multiple domains.
  • 5Ability to clearly communicate physics and translate advanced theory into real-world solutions, supported by research and analytical writing experience.
  • 6Background in research, analytical writing, debate, programming, or physics is preferred.
  • 7Publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • 8English proficiency (C1+) with strong writing skills.
  • 9Bonus: data labeling, RLHF, or AI model evaluation experience.

Who Should Apply

Ideal candidates hold an MS or PhD in physics from a recognized university and have demonstrated the ability to develop or critique advanced physics content. They are proficient in cross‑domain fact‑checking and can translate complex theory into practical explanations with clear writing in English. Prior work in research, analytical writing, debate, programming, or physics is advantageous. This role is less suitable for applicants without peer‑reviewed publications or with limited experience in AI model evaluation or data labeling.

Salary Insight

$70/hr. This contract-based role is remote with no active project yet; opportunities typically arise as AI training needs evolve and align with high-skill physics content review.
