
Physics Expert (PhD/Master's)
Overview
Turing, a San Francisco-based research accelerator, helps frontier AI labs and enterprises build advanced AI systems. In this remote role, you will design and solve challenging Physics problems to probe the limits of large language models like ChatGPT. You will produce step-by-step solutions, collaborate with LLM researchers on evaluation goals, and propose new benchmarks spanning early undergraduate to PhD-level topics. This contract work also introduces you to AI-assisted analysis, which can sharpen your own research methods.
What You'll Do5
- 1Design and solve Physics problems that expose weaknesses in large language models.
- 2Write clear, detailed solutions that show logical reasoning at each stage.
- 3Collaborate with LLM researchers to align problem sets with evaluation targets, especially for areas like abstraction, multi-step reasoning, and symbolic manipulation.
- 4Propose and help define new evaluation benchmarks based on Physics curricula, from early undergraduate through PhD-level content.
- 5Provide constructive feedback and thorough annotations to support model improvement.
Requirements5
- 1Pursuing or holding a Master's, PhD, or Postdoctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- 2Strong analytical and research skills with a structured, logical approach to solving complex Physics problems.
- 3Excellent written communication to explain Physics concepts using simple language, visuals, and reasoning.
- 4Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting with a reliable desktop or laptop and a good internet connection.
- 5Comfort with Physics at the level of engineering entrance exams and graduate programs.
