Your expertise will help train next-generation AI systems, shaping how models learn and reason. No prior AI experience is needed. The role is remote and contractor-based, with compensation from $70 to $120 per hour.

What You'll Do6

  • Create detailed boundary scenarios that address lawful policy review and the limits of military support.
  • Assess the legal defensibility of taxonomy boundaries, ensuring correct application of LOAC and international law.
  • Grade model responses for sound legal reasoning, clarity of limitations, and ability to handle legal uncertainty.
  • Flag cases where the model refuses to engage with legitimate policy or legal questions.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback that reflects authoritative analysis and clear communication.
  • Work with other subject-matter experts to review disputed cases and reach consensus.

Requirements7

  • Fluency in rules of engagement (ROE) and understanding of lawful boundaries in military and surveillance operations.
  • Experience advising on operational legal matters in real-world military or governmental contexts.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts in both written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated skill in policy review, case differentiation, and legal uncertainty reasoning.
  • Teaching, consulting, or advisory experience in military-legal or international-law contexts.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, or prior work on AI-related legal frameworks is a plus.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate has a JAG background or deep expertise in LOAC and international humanitarian law, with hands-on experience advising on military operations and rules of engagement. You should be comfortable analyzing legal uncertainty and communicating complex concepts clearly. Prior work in AI governance or legal frameworks is a bonus.
