Member of Technical Staff, Forward Deployed (US Gov) | $40-$60/hr Remote
Overview
This role involves working on applied AI systems across research and production, focusing on model experimentation, infrastructure, and deployment in high-assurance, mission-critical environments. The candidate will build data pipelines, develop RL environments, scale inference systems, and create agentic systems using modern LLM stacks. Forward-deployed work with strategic partners on sensitive, high-impact use cases is a core component of the position.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build and maintain data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and research workflows.
- 2Design and run reinforcement learning (RL) environments for experimentation and training.
- 3Develop and scale model inference systems.
- 4Implement and maintain SDKs and integrations across frontier AI platforms.
- 5Build agentic systems (multi-agent, tools, RAG) using modern LLM stacks.
- 6Take systems from prototype to production with reliability and security in mind.
- 7Work directly with partners in forward-deployed settings on sensitive, high-impact use cases.
Requirements7
- 1Strong Python engineer with end-to-end ownership experience.
- 2Experience with LLMs and agentic systems (LangChain, LangGraph, or similar).
- 3Built or maintained data pipelines and ML infrastructure.
- 4Familiarity with RL workflows or simulation environments.
- 5Experience with distributed systems or inference scaling.
- 6Comfortable in high-security and high-reliability environments.
- 7Able to operate independently in ambiguous, partner-facing contexts.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a strong Python engineer with end-to-end ownership experience, expertise in LLMs/agentic systems, and a background in building data pipelines or ML infrastructure. They should be familiar with RL workflows, distributed systems, and comfortable working in high-security, mission-critical environments. The person must be able to operate independently in ambiguous, partner-facing contexts and ideally have experience in regulated or mission-critical domains.
Salary Insight
The national pay range for this full-time position is a base salary of $200,000 – $250,000 USD. All employees are eligible for equity compensation and may receive performance-based bonuses. micro1 also provides comprehensive benefits including up to 100% reimbursement for health-insurance premiums, paid time off, and a 401(K) plan with a company match.
