Overview

micro1 seeks experienced media, publishing, and communications law attorneys to support a client's AI training initiative. You will apply your legal expertise to help models learn and reason, with no prior AI experience needed. The work involves rights clearance, licensing, and FCC regulatory compliance, drawing on real-world scenarios. This is a remote contractor role open worldwide, but you must hold an active U.S. bar admission.

What You'll Do7

  • Provide expert legal analysis on media, publishing, and communications law questions, covering rights clearance, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work through realistic scenarios from content licensing, broadcast regulation, and pre-publication review, explaining the reasoning behind each conclusion.
  • Identify when a question is unsettled, jurisdictionally contested, or dependent on facts that could change the outcome.
  • Review and validate other contributors' work for legal accuracy and clarity of reasoning.
  • Document your reasoning clearly so the analysis is as useful as the final answer.
  • Flag ambiguous or poorly framed scenarios to project coordinators rather than resolving them independently.
  • Deliver assigned work on schedule and at the required quality level.

Requirements6

  • J.D. degree and active U.S. bar admission in good standing.
  • 5+ years of substantive media or communications law practice, with hands-on experience rather than supervisory-only or adjacent exposure.
  • A corporate law foundation, ideally gained at a Vault 100 firm.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment under conflicting pressures.
  • Experience with rights and content licensing, FCC and broadcast regulation, pre-publication and First Amendment review, or media transactions.
  • Ability to explain complex legal reasoning in writing with clarity.

Who Should Apply

Attorneys with at least five years of hands-on media or communications law experience, including rights clearance, licensing, or FCC regulatory work. A corporate law background from a Vault 100 firm is a plus. You must hold an active U.S. bar admission and be comfortable working remotely.
