Legal Expert — Civil Litigator (Deposition Transcript Review)
Listing checked October 15, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Esquire seeks one practicing civil litigator to turn a rough deposition transcript into reference material for a leading AI lab. The transcript runs about 250 pages, and the work centers on about 100 questions that need gold-standard answers with citations by page and line. You also handle eight short litigation tasks tied to the same record. One litigator owns the entire answer set, which keeps judgment consistent from start to finish. This remote role is open to U.S.-based attorneys and starts right away.
What You'll Do5
- 1Work through a rough deposition transcript that spans about 250 pages, reading it in full.
- 2Draft gold answers for about 100 questions tied to the record, with citations pointing to page and line.
- 3Finish eight short litigation tasks that come from the same transcript.
- 4Produce every gold answer without AI help. If you use an AI tool only to navigate the transcript, note where and how.
- 5Take ownership of the complete answer set as the sole litigator, keeping judgment consistent across every question and task.
Requirements4
- 1Active civil litigation practice with firsthand experience taking and defending depositions; 50 or more depositions is a plus.
- 2Background in commercial litigation, contract disputes, or personal injury matters.
- 3Able to work from a lengthy rough transcript and back every answer with page and line cites.
- 4J.D. degree and active U.S. law license. Minnesota admission is not required because the questions rest on the record, not state procedure.
Who Should Apply
Civil litigators who have taken and defended depositions, especially 50 or more, and who practice in commercial, contract, or personal injury law. The role suits an attorney who can read a 250-page rough transcript and cite it by page and line without AI help.
Salary Insight
The posted rate is $120 to $140 per hour. That range reflects the seniority of a practicing civil litigator with deposition experience, and the upper end matches attorneys who have handled 50 or more depositions. The role is hourly and remote.
