Overview

Mercor needs practicing legal and compliance people to test how well AI assistants handle real professional work. You bring a task from your own day, such as drafting a clause review or working through a regulatory question, then guide the assistant through it across several turns and judge the output. Legal research, regulatory compliance, and document review form the substance of the work. Expect roughly 10 hours per week on a flexible remote schedule, paid hourly at $57/hour.

What You'll Do8

  • Draft short, realistic requests the way an actual user would phrase them.
  • Guide the assistant through the task, correct its direction, and respond to its follow-up questions.
  • Challenge answers that miss the legal or compliance mark instead of accepting them.
  • Score each deliverable against the standard you would apply in your own practice.
  • Score the overall interaction, including how useful and accurate the assistant turned out to be.
  • Record brief written notes describing what the assistant handled well and where it fell short.
  • Stay consistent in how you judge tasks so the ratings stay comparable across sessions.
  • Keep each session close to the scope of a normal working request.

Requirements7

  • Attorney, paralegal, legal operations specialist, or compliance professional by trade.
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in legal practice, paralegal work, or regulatory compliance.
  • Comfort using AI assistants at least some of the time in your work.
  • Clear, professional written English.
  • Located in a country where the assistant is available.
  • Able to commit around 10 hours a week on a schedule you set.
  • Judgment sharp enough to spot subtle errors in legal drafting and analysis.

Who Should Apply

Working attorneys, paralegals, legal ops specialists, and compliance professionals with 3+ years in practice who already use AI tools and can explain, in plain English, why an answer holds up or fails.

Salary Insight

The rate is $57 per hour, paid on an hourly basis for the sessions you complete. At roughly 10 hours a week, that works out to a steady side income on top of a legal or compliance day job, and the figure sits well above typical rates for part-time document review and research support.

Application tip

In your application, name the exact area you practice in, such as contract review, regulatory filings, or litigation support, and give years of experience plus one concrete example of AI use in that work. Specific domain detail reads far stronger than a general legal background.
