Legal & Compliance Expert
Listing checked October 25, 2026 · pay as published by micro1
Overview
micro1 is hiring legal and compliance practitioners to design benchmark tasks that test what AI systems can do. You will turn real legal workflows into multi-step, gradable tasks with objective criteria. The work is project-based, fully remote, and pays up to $90/hour equivalent. No prior AI experience is needed; your domain knowledge is what matters.
What You'll Do6
- 1Create multi-step tasks from actual legal work such as contract review, due diligence, regulatory assessment, and risk analysis, complete with realistic reference files and clear instructions.
- 2Set objective grading criteria so that two qualified reviewers would reach the same verdict on a given output.
- 3Design tasks that require judgment, not simple lookup, where the correct answer depends on reading the materials properly.
- 4Produce or gather supporting materials for each task, including agreements, policy documents, regulatory texts, and diligence files.
- 5Identify tasks that are ambiguous or cannot be graded and flag them instead of submitting them.
- 6Deliver approved tasks on schedule and at the required quality level.
Requirements6
- 15+ years of hands-on responsibility in contract review, due diligence, regulatory compliance, or risk, with direct ownership of the work rather than supervisory-only or adjacent exposure.
- 2Experience creating or applying structured review standards such as review checklists, diligence protocols, compliance frameworks, playbooks, or training assessments.
- 3Ability to reason across multiple documents at once and spot inconsistencies between them.
- 4Strong English, written and spoken, at B2 minimum and C1 preferred.
- 5A law degree and bar admission, or an equivalent compliance qualification, is a plus but not required.
- 6AI or LLM evaluation experience is a plus but not required.
Who Should Apply
Legal and compliance practitioners with at least five years of direct contract review, due diligence, or regulatory work. You have built review checklists or compliance frameworks and can spot inconsistencies across documents. Law degree and bar admission are welcome but not mandatory.
