GitHub Specialist for Repositories and Workflows Remote Contract
Overview
Remote GitHub Specialist role building realistic, executable tasks that demonstrate real-world version-control workflows. You design challenges around repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, issues, and README updates, then document outcomes in SuperAnnotate. Setup must include GitHub access, a test repository, and any references before recording your demonstration. Your screen recordings and task write-ups help train AI models to understand how developers collaborate and complete practical version-control tasks.
What You'll Do6
- 1Design realistic GitHub tasks that cover repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, issues, and README edits, and document them clearly in SuperAnnotate.
- 2Prepare the work environment by ensuring you have GitHub access, a test repository with sample files, and any required references before recording.
- 3Record a clear, step-by-step demonstration of the assigned task on your computer, capturing actions on screen and narrating decisions for reproducibility.
- 4Provide thorough task context with goals, repository details, touched files, and notes so reviewers understand the scenario and outcome.
- 5Demonstrate practical workflows such as creating branches, making commits, opening and reviewing pull requests, resolving merge conflicts, and updating documentation.
- 6Review submissions for completeness and alignment with project guidelines, ensuring the recording is understandable across time zones.
Requirements9
- 1Hands-on experience with GitHub for repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, issues, and documentation.
- 2English proficiency at B2 level or higher to understand project instructions and clearly document tasks.
- 3Comfort using a computer, browser-based tools, GitHub, editors, terminals, and screen-recording workflows.
- 4Ability to design realistic GitHub tasks that reflect software development, documentation, collaboration, or project-management use cases.
- 5Solid understanding of GitHub basics including repositories, commits, branches, pull requests, merge conflicts, issues, readme, permissions, and project boards.
- 6Ensure setup readiness: GitHub access, a test repository, files available, Git installed if needed, and references ready before recording.
- 7High attention to detail in task preparation, execution, and ensuring the recording is clear.
- 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in hourly remote contractor work across time zones.
- 9Additional professional skills such as coding, documentation, QA, project management, or DevOps are a plus.
Who Should Apply
Candidates with hands-on GitHub experience and a track record of creating realistic tasks that demonstrate practical workflows will fit best. The ideal applicant can clearly document steps and produce concise screen recordings that accompany task write-ups. This role is less suitable for individuals who lack direct task-design experience or a reliable, remote-ready setup across time zones. Common rejection risks include missing task-design samples or an inability to deliver reproducible recordings in English.
