FP&A Forecaster Expert - Remote Contract
Listing checked September 18, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Deeptune Internal needs an FP&A specialist who works in Financial Forecaster every week to QA AI agent outputs. You will review completed runs against multidimensional models, lender packs, and credit agreements. The role is remote and paid by the hour. Your judgment decides whether an agent used the right scenario, account, and coordinate, or produced a number that only looks correct.
What You'll Do5
- 1Review AI agent runs inside Financial Forecaster and verify the answer against the model, scenario, account, coordinate, basis, and deliverable.
- 2Flag failure modes where an agent succeeds too easily, fails at the wrong step, or solves a task without using Financial Forecaster.
- 3Refine task prompts and seeded data so they mirror real FP&A and lender reporting work.
- 4Tighten grading rules so correct answers pass and wrong answers fail, including wrong scenario vintage, wrong accounting basis, an excluded add-back, or figures never written to the model.
- 5Catch plausible but wrong answers that a non-expert would accept, such as numbers at the wrong grain or conclusions that conflict with the rest of the pack.
Requirements7
- 1Use Financial Forecaster weekly or more in your current or recent role for forecasting, covenant, or reporting work.
- 2Bring 5+ years in FP&A, financial reporting, technical accounting, treasury, lender reporting, or a controller function.
- 3Read a Financial Forecaster model at a glance: separate inputs from calculations, find overrides, name the governing scenario and vintage, and judge whether a figure ties at the stated grain.
- 4Handle scenario and import mechanics in Financial Forecaster with ease, plus scale and basis traps that create confident wrong numbers.
- 5Show sound judgment on what a complete correct answer looks like and the confidence to mark a plausible answer wrong.
- 6Bonus: credit agreement compliance, borrowing base reporting, going concern or impairment analysis, segment reporting, SEC reporting, disclosure committee work, or hands-on use across multiple models and entities.
- 7CPA, CFA, or MBA welcome but not required.
Who Should Apply
The best fit is an FP&A analyst, financial reporting analyst, technical accounting specialist, treasury analyst, or controller who opens Financial Forecaster each week and can trace any printed figure back to its account, scenario, and coordinate. You should know the difference between an input account and a calculated one, spot an override, and identify the forecast of record by lock date. This work is less suitable for candidates who only know Excel models or who have used Financial Forecaster once or twice. A common reason candidates score low is failing to prove hands-on use each week. Another is missing the accounting basis or vintage that governs a number, which leads to approving a plausible but wrong answer.
Salary Insight
The posted range is $70.00 to $110.00 per hour. Senior FP&A and technical accounting contractors with niche tool experience often see this band. The client will likely expect 5+ years and hands-on Financial Forecaster use at that level.

Application Tip
In your application, name the exact Financial Forecaster tasks you do each week, such as locking a scenario, importing actuals by CSV, or tying a covenant figure to a coordinate. Add a quantified example of a scale trap you caught, like a thousands-versus-dollars error, and state the accounting basis you used.

Expect hands-on finance craft where your judgment sets the quality bar.

The schedule is yours: no set hours and no minimum commitment. This project runs alongside your current role.

AfterQuery

You will write realistic planning cases that span retirement, tax, insurance and estate decisions, then produce reference answers that explain the reasoning behind each recommendation. The work also includes grading model output for accuracy and fiduciary soundness and calling out advice that looks plausible but would harm a client. The contract runs remote, asks for about 10 hours each week, and pays $85 to $130 per hour with weekly Stripe payments.
