Financial Systems Expert (Remote)
Listing checked September 10, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 is hiring Financial Systems & Accounting Experts to support a customer project that blends accounting operations with AI model training. You will apply your domain knowledge to evaluate and improve how AI systems handle accounting tasks, from transaction capture to month-end close and financial reporting. This is a remote contractor role where your accounting judgment and hands-on ERP experience directly shape next-generation AI. No prior AI experience is needed, but you must have paid experience with human data activities for AI models, such as annotation, labeling, or rubric-based grading. The project covers platforms like NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, and Dynamics 365.
What You'll Do6
- 1Evaluate AI-generated accounting output for technical accuracy, including journal entries, calculations, and explanations, against established accounting standards.
- 2Review, analyze, and annotate financial statements, reconciliations, and close workpapers, identifying misstatements and providing correct treatments with rationale.
- 3Assess accounting workflows and financial systems logic across platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, and Dynamics 365.
- 4Apply written rubrics and grading guidelines consistently when rating or ranking model output, flagging ambiguous cases as needed.
- 5Contribute real-world accounting scenarios and reference answers that reflect actual practices in modern financial systems.
- 6Deliver clear, actionable written feedback to project and model teams to support ongoing system improvement.
Requirements8
- 1Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in financial accounting, month-end close, corporate accounting, audit, bookkeeping, financial reporting, management or cost accounting, or FP&A with substantive accounting work.
- 2Proven experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, or financial statements.
- 3Hands-on work with financial systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365, Workday, or comparable systems; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel environments is equally valued.
- 4Familiarity with adjacent finance tools such as BlackLine, Bill.com, Ramp, Brex, Stripe, Avalara, Anaplan, Tableau, or Power BI is highly regarded.
- 5Demonstrated, prior paid experience in Human Data support for AI training (annotation, labeling, RLHF, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or rubric-based grading) — this is a firm project requirement.
- 6Strong written and verbal English communication skills (B2 level or above required).
- 7Previous verified participation in micro1 projects is a plus.
- 8Reliable internet connection and immediate availability expected.
Who Should Apply
This role suits accounting professionals with at least three years of hands-on experience in month-end close, financial reporting, or audit, who have worked directly in ERP systems like NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks and are comfortable with Excel. You also need prior paid experience in human data tasks for AI, such as annotation, labeling, or rubric-based grading. The role is less suitable for candidates who only use AI features inside accounting software, since that does not meet the project requirement. A common reason candidates get rejected is lacking documented paid experience in AI data work, or having accounting experience that is too narrow, for example only accounts payable without close or reporting exposure. Another pitfall is failing to show familiarity with multiple financial systems or adjacent tools.
