Overview

Mercor supports a frontier AI lab's high-priority technical-expert panel. The interviewer in this role vets shortlisted engineers across GPU kernel development, security & vulnerability research, and ML-compiler / accelerator domains. You run structured 20-minute interviews, score each candidate against a rubric, and provide an evidence-based read. The engagement is part of an AI model training-and-evaluation effort and operates 100% remote.

What You'll Do4

  • 1Conduct 20-minute structured interviews with shortlisted experts, evaluating technical depth, communication, and fit for AI evaluation using the supplied rubric.
  • 2Verify each expert's availability, work authorization, and exclusivity status, then flag any concerns.
  • 3Assign each candidate a tier (advance, hold, pass) and summarize the reasoning for the program team.
  • 4Manage scheduling for interviews inside standard weekday business hours.

Requirements4

  • 1Proven experience in recruiting, interviewing, or technical vetting, with confidence assessing senior engineers.
  • 2Excellent communication and structured judgment, with the ability to keep conversations warm, professional, and on schedule.
  • 3Availability during weekday business hours.
  • 4Reliable commitment of about 10 hours per week, 100% remote.

Who Should Apply

The right fit is an interviewer with a track record in recruiting or technical vetting who can hold a structured, timed conversation with senior engineers. You should feel comfortable making judgment calls on technical depth and communication against a rubric. The role works for someone who can commit 10 weekday hours on a consistent remote schedule. Less suitable for people who prefer open-ended talks, lack weekday availability, or have no experience assessing engineers. Common rejection reasons include no prior vetting background and an inability to keep interviews within the 20-minute window.

Salary Insight

Pay is $50-$60 per hour. For a part-time remote interviewing role, this rate often matches a senior technical vetting or recruiting background.

AI Engineer

micro1 hires software engineers to build evaluation environments that push AI systems into realistic engineering workflows. As a remote contractor, you set your own schedule at roughly 15 hours per week and focus on one thing: creating reinforcement learning environments that force an AI model to use Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools while solving bugs, implementing features, or refactoring code. Each environment needs deterministic verification and a golden reference solution so results are measurable and repeatable. Prior AI experience isn't required; your coding background and judgment are what the project needs.
