micro1 is bringing on Equity Research Experts to support a client project centered on advanced financial analysis, modeling, and sector insights. Your work will feed directly into training next-generation AI systems, helping models learn how to reason about real-world equity research. You will review datasets, analyze earnings, and produce written evaluations that reflect genuine analyst workflows. No background in AI is needed. What matters is your depth in financial modeling, valuation analysis, and at least one sector.
What You'll Do7
- 1Examine and improve datasets that mirror actual equity research tasks, checking each entry for accuracy and relevance.
- 2Break down earnings reports, update estimates, and pull together peer benchmarking insights used for AI training.
- 3Write detailed evaluations of company models covering revenue, margins, cash flow, and valuation drivers.
- 4Produce concise research summaries and event-driven updates grounded in your sector knowledge.
- 5Build and explain investment theses that tie qualitative and quantitative factors into clear perspectives.
- 6Spot industry trends, sector-specific metrics, and company catalysts that matter for fundamental analysis.
- 7Work with project stakeholders to flag data quality issues and improve research-related content.
Requirements7
- 1Substantial experience as a sell-side Research Associate owning company models and written research, or as a publishing/lead Research Analyst at VP or Director level.
- 2A track record of covering multiple companies independently across several earnings cycles while maintaining full models.
- 3Proven skill at linking business drivers to financial outcomes and valuation.
- 4Deep expertise in at least one sector such as banks, insurance, or biotech, with the ability to offer specialist insight.
- 5Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- 6Hands-on history with granular earnings analysis, peer benchmarking, valuation, and event-driven research updates.
- 7Experience forming and defending investment theses and research views, with accountability for accuracy and quality.
Who Should Apply
This role fits someone who has spent years on the sell side, owned models through multiple earnings cycles, and can speak with authority about one sector such as banks, insurance, or biotech. You should be comfortable writing detailed evaluations of company models and defending an investment thesis in clear prose. Candidates often get rejected when their sector coverage is broad but shallow, or when they cannot show direct ownership of models and written research. If your experience is mostly in adjacent areas like corporate finance or general data analysis without equity research ownership, this role is less suitable.
Salary Insight
Compensation for this contract role is $175 to $300 per hour. The final rate depends on your experience and sector depth, and it will be discussed during the hiring process.
