Overview

We're looking for an electrical engineer with deep RF and circuit design expertise to create graduate-level evaluation problems for advanced AI systems. You'll design computational tasks that require AI to use specialized scientific software like scikit-rf and ngspice to run simulations, interpret outputs, and solve research-style problems. The role blends engineering knowledge with puzzle design—each task is tested against cutting-edge AI models and refined until it hits the right difficulty. This is a remote, hourly contract position paying $70–$100 per hour.

What You'll Do5

  • 1Create original, graduate-level engineering problems that force AI to execute complex, multi-step workflows using RF and circuit simulation tools.
  • 2Design tasks where the AI must strategically plan sequences of measurements or experiments to extract hidden information from incomplete data.
  • 3Implement oracle functions, problem setups, and solution validators in Python to automatically evaluate AI-generated answers.
  • 4Run each problem against state-of-the-art AI models, analyze performance, and iterate on difficulty and clarity until the task is well-calibrated.
  • 5Collaborate with the team to refine problem design, ensure scientific accuracy, and document edge cases and failure modes of the software tools.

Requirements5

  • 1Master's or PhD in electrical engineering or a related STEM field, with hands-on research experience using scientific software libraries.
  • 2Strong proficiency with scikit-rf for RF/microwave network analysis, S-parameter characterization, and transmission-line modeling—or ngspice for circuit simulation, operating point analysis, and frequency response.
  • 3Solid Python programming skills, enough to write problem setups, oracle functions, and solution validators.
  • 4Comfort working in a Linux/terminal environment and using remote compute sandboxes for testing and validation.
  • 5Ability to work independently and refine problem designs based on iterative feedback, with availability for 15–20 hours per week.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate is a curious engineer who enjoys turning deep technical know-how into well-posed puzzles. You've used scientific computing tools in real research, understand their limitations and edge cases, and can anticipate what makes a problem genuinely challenging. You think like a test designer—able to create tasks where clever reasoning, not brute computation, leads to the answer.

Salary Insight

This is an hourly contract role paying $70.00 – $100.00 per hour, depending on experience.
