Overview

Mercor needs educators to test how well AI assistants handle real teaching and training work. You bring a task from your own practice, such as building a lesson plan or drafting a curriculum outline, then work through it with the assistant across several turns. Your ratings and written notes show where the model helps and where it fails against a professional standard. The work runs about 10 hours per week on a schedule you set, and you draw on your background in instructional design, curriculum development, or corporate training.

What You'll Do6

  • Compose brief, realistic prompts in the style a teacher, tutor, or L&D specialist would actually type.
  • Guide the assistant through the task across multiple turns, answering its follow-up questions as they come.
  • Correct the assistant when it drifts off track or produces something a professional would reject.
  • Score both the conversation and the finished deliverable using the project's evaluation criteria.
  • Write short notes describing what worked, what broke down, and where the output fell short.
  • Bring tasks from your own teaching or training work so the scenarios stay grounded in practice.

Requirements5

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in teaching, instructional design, curriculum development, or corporate training.
  • Current or past work as a teacher, professor, tutor, instructional designer, curriculum developer, or L&D professional.
  • Some hands-on familiarity with AI assistants, even if you only use them now and then.
  • Clear, precise written English for prompts, feedback, and evaluation notes.
  • Access to the assistant from your country of residence.

Who Should Apply

Educators and training specialists with 3 or more years in classrooms, curriculum teams, or corporate L&D who already use AI assistants and can explain, in plain English, why a piece of output works or does not. Instructional designers and tutors with strong writing habits fit well here.

Salary Insight

The rate is $30 per hour for roughly 10 hours of work each week. That figure sits in a reasonable band for expert evaluation work that requires a graduate-level or classroom-tested background, though total weekly earnings stay modest given the part-time hours.

Application tip

Describe your domain in concrete terms: name the subject you teach, the age group or learner population, and the kinds of materials you build, such as syllabi, assessments, or onboarding modules. Mention any AI tools you already use and how, since reviewers weigh current assistant experience alongside your 3+ years in education.
