Education Expert - Sourcing Funnel (Private) | $45-$60/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor is teaming up with a top AI research organization to bring experienced educators into a remote, hourly consulting role. You'll translate your day-to-day teaching, assessment, and curriculum work into structured training data that helps AI better understand educational tasks. This position pays $45–$60 per hour and is open to educators across all grade levels and specialties. It stands out because you get to directly shape how AI systems reason about lesson planning, grading, and student feedback — no two tasks look alike.
What You'll Do5
- 1Develop realistic classroom scenarios and activities based on your own experience, such as building lesson plans, writing test items, scoring with rubrics, designing interventions, or documenting IEPs and accommodations.
- 2Evaluate and compare AI-generated educational content for accuracy, alignment with standards like Common Core or NGSS, grade-level fit, and sound teaching practices.
- 3Create structured examples that capture how educators actually approach problem-solving and decision-making in their daily work.
- 4Provide clear, written feedback that helps improve AI performance on instructional and assessment tasks.
- 5Work asynchronously with the research team to ensure the training data meets quality expectations.
Requirements5
- 1At least 3 years of professional experience in education, including K-12 teaching, higher-ed instruction, curriculum design, assessment, special education, tutoring, or a related field.
- 2A bachelor's degree in Education or a related subject area; advanced degrees like MEd, EdD, PhD, or a subject-matter master's are a plus.
- 3A current state teaching license, National Board Certification, or comparable credential is preferred but not required.
- 4Comfort using common classroom and instructional tools such as Google Classroom, Canvas, PowerSchool, or other SIS/curriculum platforms.
- 5Strong written communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
Who Should Apply
This role is perfect for educators who want to put their expertise to work in the AI space without leaving their field behind. Whether you're a classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, assessment designer, special education coordinator, or ed-tech consultant, if you have 3+ years of hands-on experience and enjoy explaining the why behind your decisions, you'll thrive here. It's also a great fit for someone who values flexibility, remote work, and the chance to influence how AI supports learning.
