Director of Talent Operations & Automation
Listing checked October 2, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks a Director of Talent Operations, Strategy & Automation to build the operating infrastructure that lets human-data operations scale. You will own the automation roadmap for Talent Operations, deciding where workflows should be automated, redesigned, or removed. A central focus is the Ops Platform, the internal system that handles pipeline creation, talent onboarding, subscriptions, and workflows for AI training deployments. This full-time remote role pays a base salary of $120,000 to $160,000, with equity and performance bonuses available.
What You'll Do8
- 1Set the Talent Operations automation roadmap, ranking opportunities by impact and deciding what to automate, redesign, or eliminate.
- 2Rebuild workflows for scale by finding bottlenecks, failure points, and manual steps that slow the team down.
- 3Define requirements, business logic, and success criteria for the Ops Platform and related engineering projects.
- 4Turn operational needs into clear product and engineering requirements that teams can act on.
- 5Spend time with operators to learn workflows, edge cases, pain points, and user needs directly.
- 6Lead cross-functional execution with Product, Engineering, Human Data, Recruiting, and Finance from discovery through rollout.
- 7Track impact using metrics like operational capacity, cycle time, manual effort, reliability, and error reduction.
- 8Give stakeholders visibility into priorities, progress, risks, and dependencies across Talent Operations initiatives.
Requirements7
- 1Substantial experience in operations strategy, automation, product operations, systems, or business operations.
- 2Proven record of turning complex, manual operations into scalable systems and workflows.
- 3Strong product judgment and the ability to translate operational problems into technical requirements.
- 4Hands-on work with process mapping, workflow design, automation, and systems implementation.
- 5Experience partnering with Product and Engineering to build internal platforms or operational tooling.
- 6Solid analytical and communication skills across technical and operational teams.
- 7Ability to move from strategy to execution in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
Who Should Apply
This role fits someone who has already scaled operations through automation and systems work, ideally in a product operations or business operations setting. You should be comfortable talking with engineers about APIs and integrations while also sitting with operators to map their daily workflows. Candidates who only manage teams without building or redesigning systems will struggle here. A common reason applicants get rejected is showing strategy experience without concrete examples of workflows they automated or platforms they helped build. Another is lacking evidence of cross-functional execution with Product and Engineering from discovery to rollout.
