Overview
A leading AI lab needs a commercial editor who can help its GenAI team build stronger training data for video models. You will bring agency-level editorial judgment to AI evaluation work, from pacing and continuity to color and delivery. The engagement runs 40 hours per week as W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC, and Cincinnatus places you with the AI lab as part of its extended workforce. Your edits, rubrics, and written feedback will shape how the lab judges generated video and finishing work.
What You'll Do6
- Guide research teams as they close gaps in commercial editing and post-production knowledge, with focus on pacing, continuity, versioning, color, and delivery.
- Create demanding editing tasks that mirror agency workflows: hero cuts with cutdowns, aspect-ratio reframes, and localized versions.
- Build reference edits in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and deliver editable timelines that teams can inspect and reuse.
- Review AI-generated video and edits, then write clear feedback on pacing, rhythm, continuity, audio sync, color accuracy, title safety, and delivery specs.
- Write guidelines, rubrics, and quality checks for editing and finishing, with technical checks built around FFmpeg.
- Partner with other subject matter experts to keep training data consistent and correct.
Requirements11
- Five or more years of shipped commercial or agency editing work at an editorial house, post house, agency in-house studio, production company, or brand studio, with named brand and campaign credits.
- Crowd rating, data labeling, and student work do not satisfy the experience requirement.
- Everyday expert use of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, plus working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and After Effects for conforms, temp comps, and handoffs.
- Fluency with editable files and interchange formats you deliver and receive: .prproj, .drp, AAF, XML, EDL, ProRes and DNxHR masters, plus project handoffs to color, VFX, and audio.
- Comfort with FFmpeg or similar command-line tools for transcodes, probes, and batch exports.
- Hands-on Rec.709 grading and finishing work, with skin tones, LUT handling, and delivery in Resolve.
- Deep experience cutting and versioning for broadcast, online video, and social: :60 to :06 cutdowns, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, and 9:16 reframes, localized and re-tagged versions, subtitles, safe areas, loudness, and slate specs.
- Working familiarity with generative video and AI editing tools such as Runway, Kling, Luma, Sora, Topaz, Adobe Firefly, and Generative Extend, plus judgment to separate a strong result from a plausible weak one.
- A public portfolio or reel of shipped work that you can walk through in detail.
- Availability for at least 40 hours each week on weekdays.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain creative decisions.
Who Should Apply
Commercial and agency editors with five or more years of shipped work, named brand credits, and deep Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve fluency fit this role. The ideal candidate can version spots for broadcast and social, judge AI-generated edits, and commit 40 hours each week. A public reel and the ability to explain creative choices matter here.
