Overview

micro1 seeks Clinical Publications Authors to support a customer's initiative building AI-assisted tools for medical and scientific writing. You will create and review evaluation tasks drawn from peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentation decks. Your assessments will help train models to reason about publication ethics, formatting standards, and clinical data interpretation. No AI background is needed. Your publishing expertise is the core requirement.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Draft and evaluate realistic test tasks using peer-reviewed journal articles, scientific abstracts, conference posters, and slide decks.
  • 2Judge whether AI-generated draft sections meet publisher formatting rules, journal guidelines, and international ethics frameworks such as ICMJE, GPP, and EQUATOR Network reporting standards like CONSORT or STROBE.
  • 3Identify genuine errors in data interpretation or medical reasoning within manuscripts, abstracts, and discussion sections, separating them from mere style or editorial choices.
  • 4Trace claims and narratives back to source records including Clinical Study Reports (CSRs), protocols, and Tables, Figures, and Listings (TFLs) to confirm every statement is grounded in data.
  • 5Write clear, structured rationales for each assessment so model behavior can be diagnosed and improved with precision.
  • 6Work with project leads to sharpen evaluation criteria and document best practices for scientific publishing workflows in AI development settings.

Requirements7

  • 1At least 5 years of dedicated medical or scientific publication authoring experience at a sponsor, CRO, MedComms agency, or as an independent consultant.
  • 2Direct experience lead-authoring or managing peer-reviewed manuscripts published in reputable biomedical or clinical journals.
  • 3Solid working knowledge of publication guidelines (ICMJE, GPP3/GPP2022, CONSORT), copyright compliance, and journal submission workflows.
  • 4Proven ability to interpret complex clinical data (TFLs, statistical analysis plans) and turn them into clear, publication-ready scientific narratives.
  • 5Exceptional written communication skills, with a track record of giving actionable, structured feedback on scientific draft materials.
  • 6Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine (PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc) or equivalent depth of authoring experience.
  • 7Therapeutic area diversity across multiple clinical phases; expertise in oncology, immunology, or rare diseases is especially valued.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate has at least five years of hands-on medical writing or publication authoring, with lead-author credits on peer-reviewed manuscripts. You should be comfortable tracing claims to CSRs, protocols, and TFLs, and you know ICMJE, GPP3/GPP2022, and CONSORT guidelines well enough to apply them without hesitation. This role is less suitable for early-career writers or those whose experience is limited to one therapeutic area or one clinical phase. Candidates often get rejected when they cannot show direct lead-authoring experience or when their feedback samples lack the structured, actionable quality this project demands. If you have not worked with source documents like TFLs or CSRs, your fit score will likely be low.
