The position is fully remote and open worldwide, with a focus on metagenomics, clinical bioinformatics, and omics-driven precision medicine.
What You'll Do6
- 1Create challenging scientific problems in microbiome, metagenomics, and translational bioinformatics, each with a clear, verifiable solution.
- 2Assess AI model responses for scientific rigor, depth of reasoning, and subtle errors that non-specialists would overlook.
- 3Build detailed rubrics and reference answers based on primary literature and established methodology.
- 4Apply domain knowledge in areas such as 16S and shotgun metagenomics, virome and host-microbiome analysis, biomarker discovery, clinical genomics, and precision medicine.
- 5Write clear explanations of your reasoning so other experts can follow and validate your work.
- 6Meet quality benchmarks through iterative feedback and peer review.
Requirements10
- 1PhD in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Epidemiology, or a closely related field.
- 2Hands-on research experience in an academic or industry lab. Wetlab experience is a plus.
- 3Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
- 4Postdoctoral or industry research experience in microbiome, clinical, or translational research is preferred.
- 5Publication record, ideally first-author papers in relevant journals.
- 6Familiarity with microbiome tools such as QIIME2, Kraken2, MetaPhlAn, HUMAnN, MAG assembly/binning, and virome analysis.
- 7Experience with clinical/translational resources like TCGA, UK Biobank, biomarker discovery, survival analysis, EHR + omics integration, and oncology/immunology genomics.
- 8Statistics and machine learning for high-dimensional biological data.
- 9Programming in Python and/or R, plus Bash and workflow tools.
- 10Experience reviewing, benchmarking, or writing scientific content.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a life sciences field and has hands-on lab or computational research experience. You should be comfortable with microbiome tools, clinical datasets, and Python or R, and able to explain complex science in clear written English. Postdocs or industry researchers with a publication record will stand out.
