Overview

micro1 is looking for current and former civilian professionals from U.S. and allied government intelligence agencies to work on a project with a frontier AI lab. Your firsthand knowledge of how intelligence organizations operate, make decisions, and support national security missions will help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. This is a remote contractor role where you assess AI-generated content for accuracy and realism, and provide structured feedback on intelligence workflows and decision-making. The project focuses on unclassified scenarios that reflect real challenges faced by civilian intelligence professionals.

What You'll Do7

  • Review AI-generated scenarios and content that involve intelligence agencies, organizational structures, operational processes, and national security decision-making.
  • Judge the accuracy, realism, and practical relevance of AI responses using your own professional experience as the benchmark.
  • Give structured feedback on how intelligence organizations operate, covering responsibilities, internal workflows, coordination processes, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Spot inaccuracies, unrealistic assumptions, or gaps in AI-generated materials and suggest concrete improvements.
  • Help develop and review realistic, unclassified scenarios that mirror challenges encountered by civilian intelligence professionals.
  • Apply your expertise to improve how AI systems understand intelligence agency functions, professional responsibilities, and government operating environments.
  • Communicate clear, evidence-based assessments and recommendations in written form.

Requirements9

  • Direct professional experience as a civilian employee within a U.S. or allied government intelligence agency, such as the CIA, DIA, NSA, NGA, ODNI, NRO, MI5, MI6, GCHQ, or an equivalent allied intelligence organization.
  • Background in one or more intelligence agency functions: intelligence operations, analysis, collection, or mission support.
  • Background in technology, IT systems, engineering, cybersecurity, or digital transformation.
  • Background in program management, organizational operations, or administrative leadership.
  • Background in intelligence policy, strategic planning, governance, or interagency coordination.
  • Background in senior management, executive leadership, or organizational decision-making.
  • Strong grasp of the organizational structures, professional practices, and operating environments of civilian intelligence agencies.
  • Ability to evaluate complex scenarios, identify inaccuracies, and provide clear, well-reasoned feedback.
  • Excellent written English communication skills.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate has worked as a civilian inside a U.S. or allied intelligence agency and can speak from direct experience about how those organizations run, decide, and coordinate. Whether your background is in analysis, technology, program management, policy, or senior leadership, your practical knowledge will help shape realistic AI training scenarios.
